President of Georgia hosts event dedicated to International Holocaust Remembrance Day

The Israeli Consul to Georgia Smadar Zemach-Razabi visited Atoneli Presidential Residence on the occasion of the International Holocaust Remembrance Day. President of Georgia Salome Zourabichvili hosted an event.

According to the Israeli Embassy in Georgia, the diplomat underlined the importance of the day of human tragedy for the world.

Georgian politicians also commemorated the International Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Archil Talakvadze, Speaker of the Georgian Parliament, tweeted: “Today we honor the remembrance of the victims of the Holocaust that began with words and continued with horrific murders of millions of innocent people. On Holocaust Remembrance Day we firmly say NEVER AGAIN!”

“I join the world in marking this date and honor the memory of the victims of the Holocaust. Evil must not be forgotten so that it may never be allowed to take place again,” Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze wrote on Twitter.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day is an international memorial day on 27 January that commemorates the Holocaust, the genocide of European Jews by Nazi Germany between 1941 and 1945.
