President Kavelashvili: With adoption of Constitution, Georgia resumed building just and democratic state

At the Presidential Palace, an event was held to mark the 30th anniversary of the adoption of Georgia’s Constitution.

President Mikheil Kavelashvili noted that with the adoption of the Constitution in 1995, Georgia resumed building a free, sovereign, democratic, and just state.

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, as well as representatives of the executive, legislative, and judicial branches, constitutionalists, and invited guests.

“I congratulate all of Georgia on this day. On August 24, 1995, exactly 30 years ago, the Parliament adopted the Constitution of Georgia, based on the historical and legal heritage of the 1921 Constitution. This marked a major step in establishing the modern Georgian state,” the President said.

He emphasized the Constitution’s role as the country’s fundamental law.

“The Constitution is a document of supreme legal force that regulates relations between the individual, society, and the state. It ensures a balance of freedom, equality, and order, with the ultimate goal of providing equal opportunities for every person to pursue security and well-being,” the President added.
