President Kavelashvili meets Turkiye's Grand National Assembly Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili met with Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of the Republic of Turkiye.
According to the presidential administration, during the face-to-face meeting, both sides discussed existing bilateral and multilateral relations between Georgia and Turkiye, and deliberated on prospects for deepening cooperation in various spheres.
“Mikheil Kavelashvili thanked the Turkish side for supporting Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. According to the Georgian President’s statement, the Georgian side is interested in holding the next meeting of the High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council between the two countries.
During the face-to-face meeting, Mikheil Kavelashvili and the Grand National Assembly Speaker paid attention to the situation in the South Caucasus region. As Georgia’s President noted, Georgia supports the formula of peaceful coexistence in the South Caucasus and is ready to contribute to the process of promoting peace and constructive cooperation in the region. Mikheil Kavelashvili noted that he welcomes the ongoing steps taken by Azerbaijan and Armenia to establish peace, which should facilitate the region’s movement towards peace and stability.
At the meeting, the parties also discussed the Russia-Ukraine conflict in the context of security challenges. Also, they deliberated on economic cooperation issues between the two countries. Mikheil Kavelashvili stated that the existing regional and strategically significant projects represent clear examples of effective cooperation, sustainable development and reliable partnership between our countries,” reads the statement released by the presidential administration.
Georgia’s President is in Ankara on an official visit accompanied by his spouse. Within the framework of the visit, Mikheil Kavelashvili held face-to-face and expanded format meetings with the President of the Republic of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
