President Kavelashvili: Georgia is committed to green growth and stronger environmental governance
“Environmental protection is no longer merely a matter of political debate, but a force that shapes the economies, societies and daily lives of nations,” Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has declared, delivering a keynote address at the plenary session of the Regional Ecological Summit in Astana.
In his opening remarks, President Kavelashvili expressed his gratitude to the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and its President for convening such a significant summit. He further emphasised that strengthening environmental governance, advancing climate policy, and promoting green and inclusive growth are also fundamental components of Georgia’s national strategic frameworks.
“Today, environmental protection is no longer confined to the realm of political discourse; it bears directly upon the economies of our countries and upon the everyday lives of our societies and citizens.
Climate change, water security, biodiversity loss, and environmental pollution are deeply interconnected challenges that increasingly threaten the resilience of our societies and the stability of our economies.
In this context, my country offers a clear vision, grounded in strengthening environmental governance, developing climate policy, and fostering green and inclusive growth. These priorities form an inseparable part of our national strategic documents and attest to our unwavering commitment to the principles of sustainable development,” the Georgian President declared.
