Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has expressed concern over the Ministry of Internal Affairs’ (MIA) warning to organizers and participants of the upcoming opposition rally, calling it a violation of the constitutional right to demonstrate and assemble.
Writing on social media, Zourabichvili described the MIA’s statement as a ‘threat’ and criticized it as evidence of ‘Russian-style governance.’ She stated, “This is another and main violation of the constitutional principle—the right to demonstrate and assemble. Whether restricted by law or decree, such threats are unacceptable.”
The MIA had earlier warned rally participants not to engage in illegal actions, emphasizing that any attempt to block strategic or special importance objects would result in appropriate legal measures.
