President congratulates Fencer Sandro Bazadze on becoming World Champion 

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili congratulated Fencer Sandro Bazadze on becoming a World Champion.

The President attended the championship alongside Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and government members.

In a unanimous decision, the President, Prime Minister, and Speaker of Parliament have agreed to award Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze the prestigious Order of Honour in recognition of his remarkable achievement as world champion at the ongoing 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships in Tbilisi.

Georgia hosts the 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships for the first time with the support of the Sports Ministry.

For the first time in Georgia’s fencing history, Georgian fencer Sandro Bazadze has become a world champion.

At the ongoing 2025 FIE Fencing World Championships in Tbilisi, the 31-year-old athlete triumphed convincingly in the men’s epee final, defeating French contender Jean-Philippe Patrice with a score of 15:9.

This victory marks Bazadze’s third medal at the World Championships, following a bronze in 2022 and a silver in 2023. He is also a two-time European champion and a proud winner of the European Games.
