President Aliyev: South Caucasus countries must focus on peace and stability, despite these principles are violated elsewhere globally
“Azerbaijan has already invested 3.6 billion dollars in the Georgian economy, and today we discussed new opportunities and new investment projects,” declared Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev at a joint briefing with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.
Aliyev highlighted that the favourable investment climate is providing businesses with the opportunity to expand their investments further.
“We have achieved a great deal in the economic sphere. Before my visit, I reviewed the statistical data on our cooperation, and the figures are striking. Billions of dollars are being invested in Georgia, and the growth is impressive. The first quarter’s results confirm this. By the end of the year, we shall surpass several billion, and the investment climate is giving businesses every opportunity to increase investment further.
Azerbaijan has already invested $3.6 billion in Georgia’s economy, and today we explored new opportunities and upcoming investment projects.
We may also consider joint investments in third countries. We spoke about regional security and the current state of affairs. The new realities taking shape in the South Caucasus were no exception to our discussions. The countries of this region must remain focused on peace, stability, and security, because these principles are being violated in various parts of the world; here, they must remain unshakeable. Such events must not touch our region.
In the South Caucasus, we are a region of peace, stability, and cooperation. I must place particular emphasis on Georgia’s role, which is of the utmost importance. Prime Minister, you spoke of the peace process developing between us and Armenia. The agreements we are signing are not sufficient in themselves; every step going forward must serve to reinforce this peace. These meetings, these visits, serve precisely that purpose. We began our engagement with Armenia through Georgia, and I extend my gratitude to the Georgian government for its facilitation,” declared Ilham Aliyev.
