Police urge drivers to follow traffic laws, refrain from violations

“Following the directives of the Minister of Internal Affairs of Georgia, efforts to enhance road traffic safety have been intensified by tightening the approach to violations committed by drivers,” stated Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Aleksandre Darakhvelidze during a briefing at the ministry.

Darakhvelidze emphasised that the Ministry of Internal Affairs calls on all participants in road traffic to adhere strictly to legal requirements and to avoid violating traffic rules.

“Over the past few days, a total of 104,484 traffic violations have been recorded nationwide. These violations included 682 instances of improper window tinting, 4,830 violations of bus lane regulations, 683 cases of drunk driving, and eight occurrences of illegal use of flashing lights on vehicles.

Legal measures have been taken against each offender. The police will continue to respond proactively and decisively to every violation under the law. We strongly urge all categories of road users to comply with traffic regulations and avoid violations. I would remind the public that law enforcement agencies continue their 24-hour fight against crime and will enforce all appropriate legal measures against violators,” Darakhvelidze concluded.
