Police prevent two facts of illegal import of narcotic drugs from Brazil and Iran to Georgia
Law enforcers have prevented two facts of illegal import of narcotic drugs in Georgia. Mamuka Chelidze, Head of the Main Division of Fight against Organized Crimes of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, said at a briefing today that police seized 3 kilograms and 100 grams of “cocaine” and 8 packages, half a kilo of “heroin”, as evidence from Tbilisi International Airport.
Mamuka Chelidze said that police detained A.P., DoB 1979, for illegal purchase-keeping and export of narcotic drugs in especially large amount. The crime envisages from 8 to 20 years of imprisonment. He tried to export the drugs from Brazil to Georgia.
The Head of the Main Division of Fight against Organized Crimes said that police have detained two citizens of Iran at Tbilisi International Airport for the same crime. Police have seized 8 packages, about half a kilo of heroin, as evidence. The detainees tried to export narcotic drugs in a large amount from Iran to Georgia.
An investigation is underway under Article 260 and Article 262 of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
