MIA detains four foreigners over drug-related crimes

Officers of the Central Criminal Police, Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti and Adjara Police Departments, through operative and investigation activities, detained four foreign citizens (China, Germany, dual citizens of Russia and Ukraine) on drug-related crimes, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.

The MIA said the detainees unlawfully imported and kept drugs in Georgia. They face up to 20 years in prison or a life sentence.

Law enforcers seized drugs and psychotropic pills upon search of the detained individuals’ flats and motorcars. Further investigation to reveal other persons involved in the drug scheme is underway.
