Adjara Police detains Turkish citizen wanted under Interpol Red Notice

Officers of the Adjara Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have detained E.G., a citizen of the Republic of Turkey born in 1964, who was wanted under an Interpol Red Notice.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Turkish law enforcement authorities were seeking E.G. on charges of creating and leading an armed group for the purpose of committing a crime, unlawfully influencing a public tender, and committing robbery under aggravating circumstances.

The ministry reports that the individual had crossed into Georgia before a search warrant was issued in Turkey. Following investigative actions, he was detained in Batumi.

Extradition procedures prescribed by law are currently underway.
