Police detain individual over violence to animal in Marneuli

The police arrested an individual in Marneuli on charges of animal cruelty, the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reported.

Following the release of a video on social networks revealing the violent treatment of a dog in a village within the Marneuli municipality, an investigation has been opened under Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which deals with cases of animal torture or ill-treatment.

Animal rights defenders arrived at the Marneuli Police Department and demanded punishment for a man who tortured and killed the dog.
