Officers from the Imereti Police Department of Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs have apprehended two Ukrainian nationals on drug trafficking charges following extensive operational and investigative efforts.
The suspects are A.H., born in 2005, and L.M., born in 1995. They are charged with illegally purchasing and possessing large quantities of narcotics as part of an organised group with prior arrangements, as well as facilitating the illegal distribution of substantial amounts of drugs.
During searches of their personal belongings and residences, law enforcement officials confiscated significant quantities of cocaine and methadone, which are being used as evidence in the case.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs also reported that investigators seized materials essential for drug packaging, including adhesive tapes, polyethene bags, and electronic scales.
The investigation is being conducted under Articles 260, Part 2, Subparagraph “b,” and Part 3, Subparagraph “a,” as well as Article 260a, Part 5, Subparagraph “b,” and Part 6, Subparagraph “a” of Georgia’s Criminal Code. These crimes carry penalties of up to 20 years imprisonment or life imprisonment.
