PM - There is no need to declare a state of emergency as yet

The issue of declaring a state of emergency in the country was discussed at today’s meeting of the National Security Council, Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia said.

Georgian PM noted that there is no need to declare a state of emergency at this stage, but if need be, the decision will be made.

“Since the Security Council was attended by the President of Georgia and the Speaker of the  Parliament, we have discussed the issue of declaring a state of emergency in the country.

As of today, I would like to emphasize that there is no such necessity, but in agreement with the President, we have decided that as soon as the need arises, we will be able to make this decision within a few hours,” the Prime Minister said.
