PM: Specific individuals obstructed construction of small HPPs, trying to get their share
“There were cases of sabotage when specific individuals, proceeding from their own subjective interests, artificially created obstacles to the construction of even small hydropower plants and then tried to get their share in specific projects,” declared Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his address at an event dedicated to Energy Workers’ Day.
According to the head of government, the authorities’ approach in this direction will be entirely principled.
“We won’t allow anyone to line their pockets at the expense of state interests and private sector interests when implementing such important projects. We will have significant changes in all directions, and a new practice will be established. In this regard, constant consultations with industry specialists, energy workers and the private sector are very important to us. It is precisely based on such consultations and advice that our future energy policy should be determined, which must become maximally effective,” declared Irakli Kobakhidze.
The Prime Minister thanked Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili and her deputy, Inga Pkhaladze.
“I want to thank Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Mariam Kvrivishvili. In a very short period under her leadership, we have been able to implement very significant changes, specifically in the energy direction, as well as in many other directions. I am confident that under her leadership, we will achieve very significant results in the energy sphere. I also want to thank the deputy curator in the energy direction, Ms Inga. I want to thank the energy workers, everyone who has made a significant contribution to energy development in our country.
I am confident that together we will all achieve very significant results in the future. Our country will become a self-sufficient country in terms of electricity. This is important not only for economic development and economic stability, but also for our country to strengthen its economic sovereignty and state sovereignty in general,” declared Irakli Kobakhidze.
