“I want to express my heartfelt sorrow on behalf of myself and the government. The tragic incident in Shovi is a devastating catastrophe that has deeply grieved the entire nation. Once again, I extend our sincere condolences to the grieving families,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili during the Cabinet meeting.
In his remarks, the Prime Minister pointed out that the events in Shovi represent an immense ordeal for the nation at large.
“From the first minutes of the tragedy, the government has engaged with approximately 400 heroic rescuers tirelessly involved in the rescue efforts. 210 individuals have been successfully evacuated from the disaster zone.
I would emphasize the participation of brave soldiers who stood alongside dedicated rescuers.
The government’s mobilization was comprehensive, including medical teams on-site and the deployment of over a hundred pieces of specialized equipment,” he said.
The Prime Minister reiterated his condolences to the families of those who tragically lost their lives.
The government members observed a moment of silence in memory of those who died in the Shovi landslide.
