PM: Russia continues to occupy Georgia, country has to fend off many provocations
“Russia continues to occupy the territories of our country. We have to stave off too many provocations, manage the borderization process and many other challenges,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili has said during a joint press point with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Berlin.
The PM noted that Russia’s “unjustified aggression” and large-scale war “radically” changed the situation globally, including in the Black Sea Region.
“Georgia was the first to experience such a war in 2008, resulted in the occupation of the 20 per cent of our territories. We have given maximum support to Ukraine, we stand in solidarity with them, we have sent more than 1,000 tons of humanitarian cargo; we have backed a lot of resolutions in support of Ukraine, and we are sparing no effort within our capacity,” Garibashvili stated.
Earlier today, Georgian PM held a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier, as part of his Germany visit.
