PM praises Military Camp project as testament to soldier heroism and sovereignty
“Today’s Georgia, as an independent and sovereign state, owes its very existence primarily to the heroism of Georgian soldiers and the army,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the opening of the military camp in Kojori.
According to the Prime Minister, the military camp is a vital initiative, as it allows Georgian youth to emotionally connect with their identity and self-determination through their relationship with the military.
“Our army is the cornerstone of our nation’s self-determination. Georgia’s statehood was established over 23 centuries ago, and since then, the history of our country and the Georgian army have been inseparably intertwined. Whenever our homeland was in need, Georgian soldiers stood guard over our national interests and independence.
This tradition has continued through the years since Georgia regained independence. Over the past 35 years, the Georgian army has endured three wars—unbalanced conflicts, yet in each case, Georgian soldiers exemplified the highest standards of heroism.
Today’s Georgia, as an independent and sovereign nation, owes its very existence to the heroism of its soldiers and the army. We must treat this legacy with the utmost respect. Georgian society values this deeply, surveys consistently show that, after the Georgian Orthodox Church, the army enjoys the highest level of public trust. This trust has been earned through centuries of service, heroism, and sacrifice, and it must be admired and nurtured,” he emphasized.
