PM: Pleased to have received letter from U.S. presidential administration expressing openness to cooperate

“We are pleased to have received a letter from the U.S. presidential administration that clearly expresses openness to cooperation—something we have long been requesting,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his appearance on the Georgian Public Broadcaster’s program “Actual Topic with Maka Tsintsadze.”

Kobakhidze stated that the letter from the State Department differs significantly from the one President Trump sent to Mikheil Kavelashvili. He noted that “differences between the letters reflect internal confrontation that is unfolding between the Trump administration and the ‘Deep State’.”

“It is noteworthy that within two days, Georgia received two very different letters—one from the U.S. State Department and the other from the presidential administration. The first letter, issued by the State Department, and the second, drafted under President Trump’s administration, reveal a stark contrast.

This difference already reflects the emerging conflict between the new administration and the “Deep State.” There is no other explanation for how two such radically different messages could be sent to Georgia from the same government.

The State Department’s letter essentially ignored the Georgian government, addressing the Georgian people directly and bypassing the elected authorities. In contrast, the letter from President Trump was addressed to President Mikheil Kavelashvili and emphasized cooperation with the Georgian government.

This demonstrates the internal confrontation that is unfolding between the Trump administration and the “Deep State.” We are, of course, very pleased with the letter from the presidential administration, which explicitly expresses a willingness to cooperate—something we have long called for,” Kobakhidze stated.

President of the United States Donald Trump sent a congratulatory letter to President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Georgia’s Independence Day. In the letter, published by the Georgian President’s press office, Trump emphasized his administration’s commitment to strengthening peaceful and productive relations with the Georgian government.
