PM: Our rich partnership with Germany to restore once new ambassador arrives
“Our cooperation, partnership, and friendship with Germany are founded on many great traditions. We are confident that what Mr Fischer aimed to undermine will be restored very soon,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
Irakli Kobakhidze also stated that once the new German ambassador arrived, the Georgian government would be fully receptive to cooperation.
“Regarding the recall of the German ambassador, I believe the German government made a prudent and pragmatic decision. It was entirely counterproductive for Germany to have this individual in our country. No ambassador has ever harmed Georgian-German relations; on the contrary, all of their predecessors contributed positively to the development of our bilateral ties.
What Mr Fischer has practically dismantled over the years is what his predecessors had built over three decades. However, I am confident that everything will be restored very soon, given the longstanding traditions of our partnership. We are confident that everything that Mr Fischer aimed to dismantle will be swiftly rebuilt. I do not know when the German government confirms this decision, but once the new ambassador arrives, we will be fully open to cooperation,” the Prime Minister stated.
