PM: Opposition to only get member seats or form faction in municipal councils; result of sabotage against state
“Based on current polls, opposition parties have little to no chance of winning the mayoral elections; at most, they will be able to secure a member seat in various municipal councils or form a faction,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze, the Prime Minister and Chairman of the Georgian Dream, following the nomination of GD’s regional mayoral candidates.
He attributed this to the sabotage carried out by the opposition against their own state and its institutions.
“The only realistic aim for any opposition party at this point is to gain a member seat or, at best, form a faction within local city councils (Sakrebulo). The current data clearly reflect this reality. They have no prospects of winning mayoral races. This outcome is a direct consequence of the sabotage they have inflicted upon their own country and its institutions. Such actions have only served to weaken the radical opposition parties. The repercussions of this will become even more evident after the local self-government elections,” Kobakhidze explained.
