PM on PACE members' declaration: They demand suspension of status we have self-resigned from
“They are demanding the suspension of a status that we have suspended with our own hands. Unfortunately, the European bureaucracy is in complete absurdity,” stated Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, in response to a journalist’s question concerning the recent statement by 51 members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
According to the Prime Minister, the European bureaucracy has descended into utter absurdity, and the relevant European politicians are equally disconnected from reality.
“So, by our own decision, we have suspended our participation in the activities of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe. Under these circumstances, it is clear how convoluted European bureaucracy has become. They are demanding the suspension of a status that we have already renounced ourselves. Unfortunately, the European bureaucracy is in complete absurdity, and the European politicians involved are in outright absurdity,” Kobakhidze emphasised.
Fifty-one members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) have issued a written declaration named “Authoritarian backsliding in Georgia.” The declaration warns that, should Georgia fail to make progress in reversing its authoritarian trajectory, the members will consider challenging the credentials of the Georgian delegation.
