The National Wine Agency of Georgia is set to assume oversight of alcoholic beverage quality on the domestic consumer market. The expansion of duties is outlined in the government’s legislative agenda submitted to Parliament, which details the bills planned for introduction over the coming year.

According to the official document, the National Wine Agency’s scope of authority will be extended to include domestic market supervision. The mandate covers physical quality testing and ensuring that product labelling complies with statutory requirements.

“Given that the National Wine Agency already oversees the complete production cycle of alcoholic beverages, extending quality control on the domestic consumer market to this agency represents the most effective approach. Consolidating record-keeping, the national database, and state regulatory oversight under a single authority will significantly enhance the efficiency of market control for alcoholic beverages and safeguard consumer interests,” the document states.
