PM: No need for new perpetrators of conscience in prison; refrain from actions prompting lawful response

“We do not want new ‘perpetrators of conscience’ behind bars. Thus, I urge all to refrain from actions that would provoke a strict response from the law,” Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

Kobakhidze also dismissed the likelihood of Paata Burchuladze’s announced revolution succeeding.

“I want to make a clear warning to everyone: we do not take pleasure in arresting anyone, but if someone breaks the law, they must face the consequences. This is our friendly message. We do not need new perpetrators of conscience behind bars. I once again urge all to refrain from actions that could provoke a strict legal response. This is our firm warning.

Of course, the revolution announced by Paata Burchuladze will not succeed, but many more people, more than in previous cases, may end up behind bars. It is our duty to warn our citizens properly. Do not be surprised if the law responds very sternly,” Kobakhidze concluded.
