PM: Middle East conflict drove up fuel prices; we must hope for a swift resolution to naturally lower costs
“The ongoing conflict in the Middle East has driven up fuel prices, and there is hope that a swift resolution to the crisis will naturally bring prices back down,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
Asked whether the Georgian government plans to introduce temporary interventions, such as a reduction in fuel excise duty, Kobakhidze noted that no such steps are currently under consideration.
“No such measures are being considered at this stage. As you know, the spike in fuel prices was triggered by the ongoing conflict in the Middle East. We must hope that this conflict is resolved quickly, which will naturally bring fuel prices down. We will monitor how the situation develops,” the Prime Minister stated.
