Papuashvili: US Trafficking Report shows Georgia “ahead of half the EU” whenever assessments are objective
“The US State Department’s report once again confirms a simple truth: when it comes to objective assessments based on measurable and fair criteria, Georgia is always a leader and often outperforms EU member states,” Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said.
In his view, the State Department report further confirms this.
“As soon as an objective assessment is made, we see that we are ahead of half the EU member states, to say nothing of the candidate countries. Every such report makes us think of the coordinated disinformation campaign that Brussels funds and carries out itself, to blacken the name of the Georgian people and portray them as some cannibals, an unworthy people. This is what Brussels is spending money on today, spending its political instruments on, to blacken the Georgian people. But every time, studies and reports like this expose the malign aims of Brussels’s emissaries and reveal the truth,” Shalva Papuashvili said.
The US State Department has published its annual report on trafficking in persons. According to Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs, the report once again gives Georgia the highest rating for combating human trafficking, and the country has now retained its place in Tier 1 for the 11th continious year.
