Geostat: Average monthly nominal wage for hired employees rose nearly 10% in 2025

According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (GeoStat), the average monthly nominal wage for hired employees in Georgia grew by 9.9 per cent (GEL 194.5) year-on-year in 2025, reaching GEL 2,165.2.

GeoStat reported near-universal year-on-year wage growth across the economy. The highest average monthly earnings were concentrated in financial and insurance activities (GEL 4,123.6, up 12.1%), information and communication (GEL 4,042.6, up 3.0%), and construction (GEL 3,026.1, up 13.5%).

The data also highlighted a persistent gender pay gap: the average monthly wage stood at GEL 1,743.4 for women versus GEL 2,586.5 for men. Women’s earnings rose by 9.5% (+GEL 151.8), while men’s grew by 10.5% (+GEL 245.9), leaving men’s average wages higher in almost every sector.

According to GeoStat, public sector wages climbed 12.8% to GEL 1,895.4 in 2025, outpacing private sector growth, which rose 8.7% to GEL 2,301.0. In 2025, the average monthly nominal wage in the public sector remained GEL 405.6 (17.6%) lower than in the non-public sector.

In the business (entrepreneurial) sector, average monthly earnings rose by GEL 173.9 (8.6%) to GEL 2,198.4. By field of activity, the highest wages in the business sector were found in information and communication (GEL 4,097.1), followed by professional, scientific, and technical activities (GEL 3,340.7).

In the non-business and financial sector, average monthly wages increased by GEL 233.7 (12.5%) year-on-year to GEL 2,100.5, with the highest figures recorded among those employed in financial and insurance activities.

Regionally, average wages were highest in Tbilisi and the Mtskheta-Mtianeti region.
