Priority directions of the productive cooperation between Georgia and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), along with current and future projects were among the topics discussed today by Georgian Prime Minister, Irakli Garibashvili and WIPO Director General, Daren Tang.
The PM expressed his gratitude to the WIPO Director General for the valuable support demonstrated to the Georgian government in the implementation of its reform agenda over years and noted that significant progress has been achieved by the country in terms of protecting intellectual property (IP). Readiness was expressed towards deepening the fruitful cooperation even further.
It was noted at the meeting that Georgia is actively engaged in the work of a regional group for Central Europe and Baltic States (CEBS) at WIPO and has completed the coordination of the referred group in 2017 and 2021. Achievements and successful performance of Georgia as a regional coordinator of the group were highlighted at the meeting. It was noted that the WIPO delegation gave a high assessment of the efforts made by Georgia in the capacity of a regional group coordinator.
It was also mentioned that engagement in the CEBS Regional Group created new opportunities for sharing the EU experience by Georgia and it is given special importance in the better delivery of commitments assumed by the country under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) and for the development of an intellectual property system in Georgia.
