Kobakhidze: Europe faces enough challenges without EU Commissioners seeking conflict with the US

“Europe is already grappling with significant challenges, making it bizarre for an EU Commissioner to seek pretexts for conflict with the United States,’ stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze in response to recent remarks by EU Enlargement Commissioner Marta Kos.

The Head of Government suggested that European politicians and officials would be much better off addressing the urgent challenges confronting Europe, not least its relationship with Washington.

“Such initiatives are highly bizarre. Europe already has enough problems of its own, so when an EU Commissioner actively seeks a pretext for conflict with the US, it is strange, to say the very least.

It would be far better if European politicians and officials focused their efforts on resolving the challenges facing Europe, including its relationship with the United States.

Their entire focus ought to be directed towards normalising relations with other nations. Instead, their attention has been diverted towards stoking tensions rather than settling disputes, which is deeply regrettable,” the Prime Minister declared.
