Justice Minister leads delegation to South Korea’s Digital Governance Centre

As part of an official visit to the Republic of Korea, Georgian Minister of Justice Paata Salia and an accompanying delegation visited South Korea’s Digital Governance Centre. The Georgian delegation examined first-hand Korean expertise in e-governance, electronic public services, and advanced technology integration.

According to the Ministry of Justice, South Korea stands as a global leader in digital governance. The visit focused on technological solutions designed to make public services faster, simpler, and more accessible to citizens.

“The insights shared by our Korean partners were thoroughly impressive. What is particularly vital is that our cooperation is anchored in deliverable results. In the near future, a dedicated Digital Governance Cooperation Centre will open in Georgia, enabling Georgian and Korean specialists to engineer and deploy innovative projects jointly,” stated Deputy Minister of Justice Tamar Zodelava.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has already been executed between the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and the Ministry of the Interior and Safety of the Republic of Korea, establishing the framework for the new cooperation centre in Georgia.

The facility will serve as an operational platform for bilateral technical collaboration. Core focus areas include virtual assistant development, digital identity systems, AI integration in public service delivery, and next-generation digital solutions.

“Our engagements with Korean counterparts highlighted key strategic areas where cooperation is especially critical for us, namely, virtual assistants, digital identity, and AI integration into public administration. Implementing these technologies will allow us to deliver public services to our citizens with even greater speed, simplicity, and efficiency,” stated Sandro Tsirekidze, Chairman of the Digital Governance Agency.

Alongside Minister Paata Salia, the Georgian delegation includes First Deputy Minister of Justice Beka Dzamashvili, Deputy Minister Tamar Zodelava, and Chairman of the Digital Governance Agency Sandro Tsirekidze.
