National Screening Centre strengthens involvement of family doctors in screening programs
Within Pink October, an annual international health campaign held every October to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention, early detection, and research, the National Screening Center and the Caucasus Medical Center organized a meeting for family doctors on breast cancer programs.
According to the Tbilisi City Hall, the meeting aimed to share information about state-funded screening programs and to strengthen the role of primary healthcare in ensuring timely patient referrals.
The National Screening Center Director Eter Kighuradze presented state-funded screening programs to the meeting participants.
“Our goal is to ensure that information about screening reaches individuals promptly and translates into concrete action. In this process, the family doctor is one of our key partners—they know the patient, enjoy their trust, and can explain why participating in screening is important, even when the person has no complaints. We want family doctors to have comprehensive information about available programs, so that every recommendation can become a real opportunity for the patient to take care of their health,” she said.
The main message of the event held as part of Pink October was that raising awareness should be followed by a practical step.
