PM accuses EU of double standards, saying absurdities regarding Georgia
“Eighteen political parties were banned in Ukraine, and several political parties were banned in Moldova. Yet, no one there suggested that the banning of a political party could in any way be linked to the principles of democracy, nor could they have, in principle, because that would be absurd,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told reporters.
According to the PM, whatever absurdities were stated regarding Ukraine and Moldova were also stated regarding Georgia, which shows that all of this “has a very crude political motive.”
“Double standards are evident. And the same happened about elections. In several countries in our vicinity, elections were held with very gross violations, and Moldova sets an example, yet even in that case, no comments, at least no substantive comments, were made regarding this. Double Standards are evident everywhere. We need to defend the rule of law and the processes that we have initiated serve this aim,” he said.
