PM meets EP Foreign Committee Chairman

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Gharibashvili met David McAllister, Chairman of Foreign Affairs Committee of the European Parliament in Brussels.

David McAllister said he was closely observing the political developments in Georgia. He expressed hope that the government and opposition would come together one day to discuss the country’s future.

David McAllister welcomed the fact that the EU served as a political player on the Georgian political field.

“We listen to the government, to the opposition. But we want to see Georgia moving forward,” David McAllister said.

Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee said readiness for compromise was crucial in a dialogue between the political parties. He said differences in opinions were natural for democracy. However, finding the outcome was vital.

“The deepening political polarization in the country is regrettable and concerning. I call on all parties to step-up efforts to de-escalate the situation and find solutions together,” David McAllister tweeted following his meeting with Georgian PM.
