PM: Macron’s remarks in Albania contradict public statement, indicating Deep State's influence in Europe

“From the statement made by Macron, Tusk, and Merz, it is evident that the ‘deep state’ holds significant influence in Europe,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze.

Furthermore, Kobakhidze pointed out that what Macron told him privately in Albania contradicts the joint public statement by three European leaders.

“Regarding the trilateral statement, it is clear that the ‘deep state’ has a significant influence in Europe. Everything points to this reality. Aside from everything else, it is a matter of protocol and etiquette not to make such statements on May 26—a day of solemnity. Traditionally, respectful and formal messages are sent on this day. Ignoring this protocol demonstrates a failure to act under objective interests, even their own. Instead, they operate along lines that do not serve their genuine interests. This is very regrettable,” the PM said.

Kobakhidze also commented on Macron’s private remarks.

“What Macron told me in Albania is fundamentally contradictory to the statement circulated publicly. This suggests that individuals cannot act independently in decision-making. Such dynamics have a serious impact on Europe and its member countries, leading to the confusion and instability we observe today,” he concluded.

French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz issued a joint statement on Georgia’s Independence Day, reading:

“We, therefore, condemn all activities of the Georgian authorities resulting in the democratic backsliding and the attacks against civil society, media and government critics. Freedom of expression and of assembly must be upheld. Reports of excessive violence must be investigated. Laws that contradict European standards must be amended, and the much-needed reform process must be picked up again. The Georgian authorities need to re-establish a dialogue with the opposition and civil society. The people of Georgia should not be deprived of the opportunities associated with the country’s European path.”
