PM Kobakhidze visits Mtskheta Museum

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, accompanied by Minister of Culture Tinatin Rukhadze, visited the Mtskheta Museum.

During the visit, the Prime Minister was introduced to the museum’s innovative new concept by David Lortkipanidze, Director General of the Georgian National Museum.

The revamped concept showcases archaeological artefacts from Georgia’s ancient past, digitally presents samples from the Christian era, and features archive materials related to the archaeological exploration of Mtskheta. Currently, efforts are focused on establishing the new museum infrastructure, curating its collections, and selecting dedicated staff. The Mtskheta Museum now consolidates the archaeological sites of Armazi and Ksani, both of which house rich collections of archaeological finds.

Additionally, the museum boasts a dedicated laboratory for processing, restoring, and conserving excavated materials.

Over time, its exhibition space will gradually expand to include more artefacts from Mtskheta’s history, drawn from the collections of the National Museum.

According to the Georgian Government, the Prime Minister’s visit was attended by representatives from the executive, legislative, and local authorities.
