“A strong state cannot exist without an educated society. It is precisely this great purpose that our cherished teachers serve, to whom I wish to express profound gratitude for your work,” Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated during his address at the National Teacher’s Award ceremony.
According to the Head of Government, teaching is not merely a profession; it is a calling and a worthy service to one’s homeland.
“I wish to congratulate you on National Teacher’s Day. It is symbolic that we mark this day on the birthday of our greatest educator, the founder of scientific pedagogy in Georgia, Iakob Gogebashvili.
A strong state cannot exist without an educated society. It is precisely this great purpose that our cherished teachers serve, to whom I wish to express profound gratitude for your work. Teaching is not merely a profession; it is a calling and the most worthy service to one’s homeland. Society entrusts you with our most precious treasure, our future generation. You share with them your knowledge and experience, instil in them the most important national values, and raise them to become civic-minded, patriotic citizens,” the Prime Minister stated.
According to PM, the highest priority for the government is ensuring that the teaching profession is valued and held in high regard, and that every teacher receives the proper support they deserve.
“Our government’s foremost priority and simultaneously our obligation is that the teaching profession be valued and prestigious, and that every teacher be properly supported. The National Teacher’s Award serves precisely this purpose, alongside the large-scale reform of the education system we recently announced and numerous other steps taken in this direction. It is the state’s modest recognition of your immense contribution.
I am particularly pleased that this year, on the Ministry’s initiative, this recognition has become even more extensive. In addition to the ten laureates of the National Award, we identified and honoured dedicated teachers on site in every municipality of Georgia. We want every teacher, whether in the capital or the regions, to feel the state’s solidarity and support.
Today, the National Award laureates will also receive a medal depicting the symbol of Gelati Academy. This symbol very precisely reflects your mission. You are the continuators of our greatest educational traditions and the guarantors of our country’s better future.
Once again, I congratulate you on National Teacher’s Day. I wish you health, professional advancement and new successes,” the Prime Minister stated.
