PM Kobakhidze holds talks with Prime Minister of Azerbaijan

Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze, met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ali Asadov, who is currently visiting Georgia as part of the Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

The meeting centred on the existing strategic partnership between Georgia and Azerbaijan and the prospects for further strengthening their close ties.

Discussions covered trade and economic cooperation, as well as the potential for direct Azerbaijani investments. The leaders emphasised the significance of joint regional projects between the two nations.

The parties recognised that these ongoing initiatives exemplify the steadfast and reliable nature of Georgian-Azerbaijani relations. Connectivity and the development of the Middle Corridor, along with Georgia’s vital role in this endeavour, were specially highlighted at the meeting.

Irakli Kobakhidze reaffirmed Georgia’s commitment to working together with Azerbaijan to promote peace and stability across the region. After the meeting, Georgian PM posted on the social platform X, saying the two sides reaffirmed their strategic partnership, founded on shared values and mutual respect.

“Within the framework of the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum, I had the honour of hosting H.E. Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Azerbaijan. We reaffirmed our strategic partnership grounded in shared values and mutual respect. We discussed further deepening of economic ties, transport and energy linkages, and our joint commitment to peace and stability in the South Caucasus,” Irakli Kobakhidze posted.

Earlier today, the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan took part in the official opening of the 2025 Tbilisi Silk Road Forum and, alongside the Prime Ministers of Georgia and Armenia, engaged in a high-level dialogue.
