PM Kobakhidze: Germany once stood for principle, now its bureaucracy has abandoned it entirely

“Germany was always distinguished by its particular respect for principles. Today, one cannot see that at all. What we do see is that in Germany, at the bureaucracy level, every principle is being utterly discarded. This is deeply regrettable,” said Georgia’s Prime Minister, Irakli Kobakhidze, in response to a journalist’s question about the inaccurate listing of Georgia’s President and Foreign Minister’s names on the website of the German Federal Foreign Office.

According to Kobakhidze, this is entirely unserious and reflects the present face of European bureaucracy.

“I could never have imagined that Germany would have problems of this kind. Twenty years ago, for instance, Germany was always set apart by its exceptional respect for principles. Today, we no longer see any of that whatsoever. What we see instead is that in Germany, at the bureaucratic level, every principle is being entirely cast aside, there is no regard for principles at all, and that is deeply lamentable. Lamentable, and at the same time utterly unserious. That is the only assessment one can give of this episode,” the Prime Minister remarked.
