“When there is an ongoing court case and a particular European institution tries to exert influence and pressure on it, that in itself is alarming,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists, responding to statements by EU representatives.

He emphasised that everyone must respect the rule of law, the independence of our courts, and the autonomy of our state institutions.

“This is an attempt at political pressure. Everyone must respect the independence of our courts, the rule of law, and the autonomy of our state institutions. It is deeply alarming when a European institution tries to interfere with an ongoing court case and apply political pressure. All of this runs counter to European values, which is very regrettable,” the Prime Minister said.
