PM: Clear tourism policy kept growth on track this year despite ongoing global challenges
“We have such a clearly defined tourism policy and so many tools, including for promoting tourism, that despite challenges on this scale we have seen very good growth again this year,” Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
He said new direct flights, which the Economy Ministry works on constantly, had helped drive the growth.
“Our policy is very well organised. The challenges were serious: there is a conflict in the Middle East, and of course it has had a significant negative impact on tourist flows. Even so, our tourism policy is clearly defined and supported by strong promotional tools; our efforts have paid off; despite these challenges, we have seen strong growth again this year. New direct flights, which the Economy Ministry is constantly and actively working on, have contributed to this. These new tourist flows are a direct result of our new non-stop flight routes. This is the result of day-to-day work, and I want to thank the Economy Ministry and the Tourism Administration for it,” Kobakhidze said.
