MP Machavariani: Opposition’s ratings close to zero
“Because of Mikheil Saakashvili’s persona, the opposition is in a hopeless position. It is an opposition of foreign agents through and through, because it has been exposed and is controlled from abroad from top to bottom,” said MP Levan Machavariani, a member of the parliamentary majority.
Machavariani said the opposition had torn up the mandates the people gave it, thus insulting its own voters. He added that the opposition had continued to sabotage the country and had gone begging in European capitals for sanctions against Georgia.
“In effect, they have been marginalised and reduced to zero. Many of their statements directly admit that they are controlled from abroad from top to bottom. They get their instructions by travelling abroad. Whenever they need to make a statement on an issue, they first go to an ambassador and ask what instructions have come from that ambassador’s country, and then they spread their talking points to the public accordingly. That is why their rating is so close to zero. Their own voters have become convinced that they are controlled from outside the country,” Machavariani said.
