PM Kobakhidze: Communique, bilateral documents to contribute to deepening Georgia-Tajikistan cooperation
“I am confident that this visit will upgrade Georgia-Tajikistan bilateral relations. We signed a joint communique and several bilateral documents, which will contribute to deepening our cooperation,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the joint briefing with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
According to the PM, cooperation within bilateral and international organizations formats was reviewed during the meeting with the President of Tajikistan.
“I am happy to be on an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. I would like to note that the two peoples and countries are connected by historically established special relations based on mutual respect. Nevertheless, today the first visit at the highest level from Georgia to the Republic of Tajikistan took place. Therefore, this visit can be assessed as historical. I am convinced that this visit will upgrade Georgia-Tajikistan bilateral relations. We are interested in further deepening our relations and friendship. Within the visit, we signed a joint communique and several bilateral documents, which will contribute to deepening our cooperation,” he said.
Prime Minister Kobakhidze noted that he conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to President Emomali Rahmon as Tajikistan celebrated the 35th anniversary of independence this year, and wished peace, prosperity and success to the Tajik people.
“Hereby, I would like to take the opportunity and express my gratitude to the government of Tajikistan for support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within internationally recognized borders. Today we discussed various aspects of cooperation, including Georgia-Tajikistan cooperation within international organizations and expressed our readiness to continue active cooperation in the future,” he said.
