United Airports of Georgia announces tender for new passenger terminal at Mestia Airport

The United Airports of Georgia has announced a tender for the construction of a new passenger terminal at Mestia’s Queen Tamar Airport. The new terminal will be designed to handle approximately 50,000 passengers annually.

According to the United Airports of Georgia, the existing terminal at Mestia Airport is small and can no longer fully meet demand amid growing passenger traffic. The construction of the new terminal is expected to improve passenger services and enable the airport to efficiently handle increased passenger flows.

The Mestia Airport development project, initiated by the Georgian government, is part of a unified strategy for developing regional airports. Its implementation is expected to improve domestic air connectivity, increase access to air transport in Svaneti, and support the development of tourism and business flows in the region.

The concept design for the new terminal was developed by Green Studio, which won the relevant architectural competition. The project takes into account Svaneti’s climatic conditions, local architectural characteristics and the existing infrastructure.

Tender bids will be accepted from September 25 through September 30. The winning company will be required to complete the construction works within 24 months of signing the contract.
