PM: I won't engage in polemic with Zelenskyy, given his country is at war

“Georgia remains the undisputed leader among the candidate countries for the European Union, particularly in terms of democracy and human rights,” stated Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze to journalists.

The Prime Minister commented on a statement by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the UN General Assembly, where he said, “We have already lost Georgia in Europe. Human Rights and the European nature and the state system are only shrinking there. Europe cannot afford to lose Moldova either.”

The Prime Minister pointed out that Georgia is ten points ahead of all other candidate nations in both human rights and democratic standards.

“I do not wish to engage in a polemic with Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He is the president of a country at war, and therefore, regardless of what he says, I do not see it as necessary to respond. Regarding democracy and human rights, Ukraine is currently experiencing a tragic situation in these areas. When people speak of democracy and human rights in Georgia at such a time, it is fundamentally nonsensical. Georgia is the unquestioned leader among European Union candidate countries, including in terms of democracy and human rights. We are ten points ahead of all other candidates in both these areas,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
