PM: Hosting U-20 World Cup with Armenia is significant achievement, gratitude to Ministry of Sports and Football Federation

“It is a truly special achievement that Georgia will host the U-20 World Cup alongside Armenia,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

According to the Prime Minister, this event will enhance Georgia’s prestige and strengthen its sporting profile on the international stage.

“Great emphasis is placed on the development of sport in Georgia. One of the ways we demonstrate this is through hosting increasingly prestigious international tournaments. Recently, we hosted the European Weightlifting Championship, the Judo Championship, and before that, the Fencing World Championship. We have also hosted numerous other prominent winter sports events.

Hosting the U-20 World Football Championship together with Armenia is a particularly notable milestone. It will help elevate our country’s standing globally and improve our sports image internationally. Moreover, it will directly support the growth of sport within Georgia, providing our youth teams with the invaluable opportunity to compete at the world level. This achievement is of great significance for our nation in every aspect.

I extend my gratitude to everyone who contributed to this success, including the Ministry of Sports, the Minister of Sports, and especially the Football Federation, represented by Levan Kobiashvili. Their dedicated efforts were instrumental in making this possible, and I thank them sincerely for their hard work and dedication,” Irakli Kobakhidze has said.
