PM: Government reshuffle reflects broad selection within team, not recruitment from radical Opposition Alliance
“There have been several personnel changes within the Georgian government. In most cases, we have appointed new ministers from outside the existing government. As with any such process, it appears that speculation is unfounded. It is entirely logical that personnel are being chosen from a broad pool of candidates,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
According to the Prime Minister, the role of a minister is inherently political, and therefore, it is appropriate that those appointed to such positions have a political background.
“There have been numerous personnel adjustments in the Georgian government. In most cases, we have appointed new ministers from outside the current government. Any suggestion otherwise is unfounded. It is entirely reasonable that personnel are being selected from a broad and diverse pool of candidates; this is standard practice worldwide. Naturally, we will not and cannot select individuals from the radical opposition alliance. Additionally, we are not considering recruiting personnel from opposition groups outside our team, given concerns about their competence. Logically, ministers are chosen from a wide spectrum of qualified candidates. Since the role of a minister is inherently political, it is appropriate that appointees have a political background aligned with our team. This straightforward and rational approach is common in every country,” the Prime Minister stated.
