“Over the years, we endured four wars, a nine-year assault on Georgia’s sovereignty, and brutal authoritarianism. Yet, the resilient spirit of the freedom-loving Georgian people prevailed. Today, Georgia has regained its independence, freedom, and democracy—laying a strong foundation for our nation’s progress, development, and its rightful place among the European family,” stated Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during his speech at the conscripts’ oath-taking ceremony.

The Prime Minister emphasized Georgia’s storied past, noting that the nation’s history spans over three millennia, with statehood dating back 23 centuries.

“Our small country has always stood at the crossroads of great powers. The path of Georgia and its people has never been easy. Yet, Georgians have always believed they are a special nation, blessed by the Virgin Mary. This faith has sustained us through countless storms. Empires have fallen around us, but Georgia remains steadfast, under the protection of God and the Holy Virgin Mary.”

Kobakhidze reiterated that over the past 35 years, Georgia has endured four wars, a nine-year assault on its sovereignty, and bloody authoritarianism. Nevertheless, the enduring spirit of the Georgian people prevailed, leading to the restoration of independence and democracy.

“Today, these foundations support our ongoing progress, development, and integration into the European community,” he affirmed.

Concluding, the Prime Minister called on every Georgian to unite in safeguarding and strengthening their homeland. “We must preserve Georgia’s independence. Long live an independent, united, and strong Georgia! May God protect our homeland!”
