PM finds inciting hatred as explicit goal of funding NGOs, says government must counter this with legal mechanisms

“One of the explicit goals of funding NGOs and foreign interference was to incite hatred inside the country, in society and toward institutions. We must counter this with legal mechanisms so that no one from the outside can impose hatred on us,” said Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during a briefing at the Government Administration.

According to the PM, inciting hatred was the line which foreign interference followed in Georgia’s internal political processes.

“They directly and intentionally financed inciting hatred in Georgia through NGOs. We must counter this with legal mechanisms, and we welcome the initiative voiced yesterday by the Vice Prime Minister, the State Minister for Coordination with Law Enforcement Agencies. We will pay close attention to this department and its effective functioning. This is essential so that no one from the outside can impose hatred on us.

This is not a phenomenon unique to Georgia. In all countries where the same forces are trying to interfere in local processes, we see coordinated attempts to incite hatred everywhere. This, of course, requires a confrontation, and the initiative voiced yesterday is linked to this,” the PM noted.
