PM claims Georgia surpasses several EU members, candidate countries by all objective assessments

“According to all objective assessments, Georgia is advanced not only in our region, not only among candidate countries, Georgia surpasses several European Union member states,” Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists in Bakhmaro in response to a question about the Good Governance Index 2025.

According to the Head of Government, Georgia outperforms up to ten EU countries across multiple parameters.

“According to all objective assessments, Georgia is advanced not only in our region, but also among candidate countries. Georgia surpasses several European Union member states. We rank within the top twenty across nearly all parameters on a European scale. Accordingly, this means we surpass up to ten EU countries on multiple parameters. This is an objective assessment. Everything else is political speculation, political games, which is unacceptable to us. What matters to us is that the European Union should be associated with fairness, objectivity, truth, and veracity. Unfortunately, today there is a different situation, stemming from the wrong actions of European bureaucracy. I hope European bureaucracy will change course and act differently in future,” the Prime Minister declared.

Regarding a question about the reduction in self-employed numbers, the Head of Government noted that the number of hired employees has increased, and this is precisely the main indicator of economic growth.

“Only the number of self-employed decreased; as for hired employees, and this is the main indicator of economic growth, the number of hired employees increased. The main emphasis is placed on economic growth. Numerous structural changes are being implemented in various directions, including in the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Infrastructure.

I can assure you that the ongoing reforms, including staff and expenditure optimisation, as well as the introduction of new initiatives, will bring significant changes. New developments are expected to emerge this year, and by next year, these efforts will translate into an even greater acceleration of economic growth.

We are not only first in the region but also among the top in Europe with regard to economic growth over the past four years. Our goal is to maintain this leading position, and I can assure you that we will continue to make further progress in this area,” Kobakhidze declared.
