PM cites European bureaucracy as key issue, highlights erosion of democratic principles and values

“In terms of narrow or wider perception, the main problem that we see in European bureaucracy is corruption and a serious setback in respect for democratic principles and values,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, remarking on the launch of an investigation against Angelika Nibler, Head of the German influential right-wing centrist delegation in the European Parliament on charges of misuse of EU funds.

According to the PM, this situation should change.

“This indicates the dire situation in the European bureaucracy. Everything is linked to corruption. There is a serious setback in terms of respect for democratic principles and values. This situation should change. This is our desire and urge to the European bureaucracy,” he said.
